The Kremer "Eicha"

Jonathan Kremer’s Eicha (Lamentations) is considered to be “one of the most beautiful Hebrew books of the 20th century.” As a Conwelll Fellow at Tyler School of Art (Temple University) the hand-lettered and illustrated a manuscript of this biblical text. He used plates made from the manuscript to hand-print 60 copies. Kremer ’s Eicha was included in the seminal 1988 exhibition at the New York Public LIbrary, “A Sign and a Witness: 2,000 Years of Hebrew Books and Manuscripts.”
